Melania Trump is helping more people on the front lines of the coronavirus and those suffering during the pandemic.
The first lady donated 150 packed lunches for patients and staff at a children’s hospital in Maryland this week, her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham announced in a statement on Monday.
“Supporting those impacted by the effects of COVID-19 is something the First Lady cares deeply about, and as we navigate these unique times she will continue to reach out to people in a variety of ways,” Grisham said.
The first lady has made other efforts to assist people, both on the front lines and coping with the coronavirus, over the last few weeks. Trump sent care packages featuring the logo of her signature “Be Best” initiative at the end of April to hospitals in 10 states that are dealing with the pandemic.
“The medical community has gone above and beyond to protect the health of the American People,” Trump said in a statement, noting that the gifts are “just a small token of my appreciation for their courage and leadership in this time of need.”
She also stuck by a U.S. Easter tradition despite lockdowns across the nation by honoring the White House Easter Egg Roll tradition of reading a children’s story last month.
“Happy Easter! While I am not able to read to children during the #WHEasterEggRoll, I would still like to honor the annual tradition & share a reading from one of my favorite Easter’s books – ‘The Little Rabbit,'” Trump tweeted along with footage of her reading the book.
