Support for the Iran deal among registered U.S. voters has hit an all-time high with just 10 days to go before the Trump administration must decide whether to keep the country in the nuclear agreement, according to a Morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday.
The April 26-May 1 survey found 56 percent of voters approve of the Iran deal, while 26 percent do not. The poll comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu went before cameras to offer proof that Iran had lied about its pursuit of nuclear weapons before the Iran deal was struck in 2015.
The support level is the highest since April 2017, which was the last time it hit 56 percent. Back then, 29 percent opposed it, more than the number today.
Voters are divided over whether President Trump can handle the threats Iran poses to the United States.
Exactly 48 percent said they have little or no confidence in Trump’s dealings with Iran versus 47 percent who have a lot or some confidence in the commander in chief.
The online poll was conducted among 1,991 registered voters and had a 2 percentage point margin of error.
