On this, the first full day of Taliban rule, there are still hundreds of Americans stranded in Afghanistan and thousands of Afghans who aided the American effort who are still trapped. Already, anecdotal reports suggest the Taliban, who have hinted at a more civilized approach to governance, are, in practice, as ruthless as ever.
