Footage shows Trump ally Roger Stone urging violence before tallying 2020 election results

Documentary footage obtained by the Jan. 6 committee shows that longtime Trump ally Roger Stone said he did not think people should wait until actual votes were tallied to contest the 2020 election results.

Stone said, “F*** the voting — let’s get right to the violence,” in a Danish documentary that both the committee and CNN obtained.

The filmmakers, Christoffer Guldbrandsen and Frederik Marbell, told CNN that they followed Stone for portions of about three years for their documentary film.

In another clip obtained by CNN, Stone said then-President Donald Trump should prematurely claim victory on election night in 2020.

“I really do suspect it’ll still be up in the air. When that happens, the key thing to do is to claim victory,” Stone reportedly said on Nov. 1, 2020.

Jan. 6 committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-MS) subpoenaed the footage two months ago as part of the panel’s investigation into the Capitol riot. Guldbrandsen and Marbell said the committee was interested in footage that focused on Stone’s relationship with the White House and any alleged ties to the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys.

However, the filmmakers said they were not able to establish a link between Stone and the two groups and the White House.

In a statement to CNN, Stone challenged the authenticity of the videos, stating that he believes the videos may have been “manipulated and selectively edited.”

“I also point out that the filmmakers do not have the legal right to use them,” Stone said in a statement to CNN. “The excerpts you provided below prove nothing. Certainly they do not prove I had anything to do with the events of January 6th. That being said, it clearly shows I advocated for lawful congressional and judicial options.”

This footage reveal comes after Oath Keepers leader Stewart Rhodes and 10 others were charged with seditious conspiracy related to the Jan. 6 riot.

The Oath Keepers filed a motion on Monday requesting the ability to question confidential sources used by the Justice Department or FBI to look into the group. Prosecutors are seeking strict limits from the presiding judge related to what the defense lawyers can ask the witnesses.
