The stepmother of Democratic Rep. Joaquin Castro and his twin brother, Julian, died from the coronavirus.
“My stepmom, Alice Guzman, passed away today from COVID-19,” Joaquin Castro tweeted Thursday.
Castro said his stepmother, who was married to his father for 31 years, was “a warm, loving person.”
“My heart goes out to the families who’ve lost loved ones to this terrible illness,” the Texas congressman wrote.
Julian Castro, a former mayor of San Antonio and HUD secretary who unsuccessfully ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, added: “May she Rest In Peace.”
