GORMANIA, W.Va. — Life here along the North Branch of the Potomac River is very different than life 162 miles downriver.

Here, there is raw natural beauty that takes your breath away. Under your feet flows the Potomac, above you the Allegheny Plateau and the ascent toward Mt. Storm beckons with forests filled with red spruce, balsam fir, and mountain ash.
