‘Islamophobes and racists’: Ilhan Omar blasts Trump’s ‘hateful policies’

Rep. Ilhan Omar slammed President Trump’s “hateful policies,” which she believes are fomenting hatred and division in the United States after the president ordered the killings of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al Muhandis last week.

“When the United States enters conflicts with Muslim-majority countries, it destabilizes nations and infringes upon human rights,” tweeted the Minnesota Democrat. “It also riles up Islamophobes and racists at home.”

Omar, 38, was seen laughing and joking yesterday during a press conference where Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee discussed the thousands of Americans who have died fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“This president’s hateful policies like the Muslim ban and the refugee cap have already empowered Islamophobes,” added Omar. “And it will only get worse as he pushes us closer to an endless, unnecessary war with Iran.”

Iran threatened to attack Israel and Dubai if the U.S. retaliated after the Middle Eastern regime fired more than a dozen ballistic missiles at al Asad Air Base, an Iraq-U.S. coalition military base in western Iraq.

Omar demanded that Congress “step in and stop” Trump after the strike that killed Soleimani and claimed the president was engaging in “economic warfare” after he threatened sanctions on Iran.
