A Fox News host argued Tuesday that President Trump doesn’t need a press secretary who holds briefings with reporters because he’s talking directly to voters on his own.
Brian Kilmeade of “Fox & Friends” seemed to agree with an analysis that Trump exaggerates his accomplishments, but is also very open with voters about what he’s trying to do.
“The president exaggerates, [but] when it comes to doing things, he’s the most transparent,” Kilmeade said.
“That’s why he keeps on walking over to the cameras,” he added. “That’s why you don’t really need Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Every stop that he makes, he talks to the cameras first, he talks to the people, and then he talks again at the end.”
Kilmeade’s co-host Steve Doocy said Sanders might be nervous to hear that comment.
“At the White House, Sarah Huckabee Sanders just went, ‘Wait, did he just say they don’t need me?'” he said.
But Kilmeade defended the idea because Trump has made himself so available.
“It’s like, why do I need a briefing? The president’s talking every day,” he said.
