Legendary former NFL quarterback Brett Favre condemned Derek Chauvin’s actions when he arrested George Floyd last May, but he said it was “hard to believe” that he intended to kill Floyd.
“I find it hard to believe — and I’m not defending Derek Chauvin in any way — I find it hard to believe, first of all, that he intentionally meant to kill George Floyd,” Favre said Wednesday on his Bolling With Favre podcast.
“That being said, his actions were uncalled for. I don’t care what color the person is on the street. You do not … I don’t know what led to that video that we saw where his knee is on his neck, but the man had thrown in the towel,” he said. “It was just uncalled for.”

Chauvin was found guilty on charges of second-degree murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter on Tuesday.
Favre’s comments come after he faced backlash last week for saying he wants athletes and leagues to keep politics out of sporting events. He addressed the criticisms on Wednesday, saying he’s sticking by his comments.
