President Trump mocked Sen. Mitt Romney and the recently imprisoned Michael Avenatti over coronavirus-related news in a pair of tweets.
When Trump first responded to the news that Romney had entered a self-quarantine after he had prolonged contact with Sen. Rand Paul over the weekend, he offered a barbed “Gee, that’s too bad.” Following news that the Utah Republican had tested negative for the virus, the president issued a similar response Wednesday morning.
“This is really great news! I am so happy I can barely speak. He may have been a terrible presidential candidate and an even worse U.S. Senator, but he is a RINO, and I like him a lot!” he wrote.

Trump then turned his attention to Avenatti. The attorney, who represented porn star Stormy Daniels in her lawsuits against the president, has been in jail awaiting sentencing after being found guilty of trying to extort Nike. He has pleaded with the courts to be released to avoid catching the coronavirus, but his request was denied.
Trump gave Avenatti the Romney treatment in a separate tweet posted on Wednesday, writing, “Gee, that’s too bad. Such a fine guy. Presidential aspirations you know!”

Trump has been feuding with Romney and Avenatti for years. Both were critical of the president from the early days of his campaign in 2016.
