In a first, the Heritage Foundation is jumping into the final month of the national election with a sweeping pro-America TV ad campaign urging the nation to vote for “freedom” and against the sometimes violent protests rocking cities.
“It’s time we fight for America and vote for America” is the theme in three new ads debuting today as part of a $1.1 million campaign, the first in the conservative organization’s 47-year history.
In ads airing on Discovery Channel, HGTV, History Channel, and Fox News Channel, the “Fight for America” campaign serves up a choice of American-style freedom and wealth versus Venezuelan-style socialism and poverty.
One ad takes the viewers on a “tour” of Venezuela, North Korea, and Cuba and warns that the “virus” of socialism and authoritarianism is spreading. “There’s a better way to make progress and improve the well-being of every American. We call it freedom,” said the ad.
In another, the violence of the Black Lives Matter protests in Portland, Oregon, are shown and Democratic calls to defund the police are highlighted. “The left is full of ideas that never work. Don’t let them bring Portland to you,” said the ad.
And in a third, the expansion of the economy and freedom in America is shown as the announcer reads, “It’s time we fight for America and vote for America.”
Heritage President Kay C. James said, “The Heritage Foundation offers hope and won’t surrender to those who only offer havoc. We will fight for America against the mob and against socialism, and we’re asking millions to join us.”
She said that the ads are meant to show voters the choice voters have in the election.
In a statement describing the campaign, Heritage said, “The far left threatens to take more control of our lives and livelihoods and will use any means necessary to achieve power. The Heritage Foundation, representing the views of a majority of Americans, advocates for the freedom that produces prosperity and improves everyone’s quality of life and encourages every citizen to protect the precious gift of liberty.”
James added, “America’s great experiment in liberty is worth defending, and the Heritage Foundation will be at the forward edge of the fight for our future.”
