WATCH: Uber Eats driver walks on court during college basketball game

The announcers could hardly believe their eyes as they watched an Uber Eats driver walk onto the court with a bag of food in hand in the second half of Loyola Chicago’s men’s basketball game against Duquesne.

The deliveryman was mere inches away from one player as he held the bag up in the air and looked at the referee, almost as if the official had ordered a midgame snack. “This guy’s in the corner, looked like he — was he going to deliver the McDonald’s to somebody on the court? Can we rule that out?” one of the announcers asked with incredulity. His partner proceeded to laugh.

“Maybe I’ll put my hand up, I’m getting a little hungry,” the announcer jokingly added. The game was paused by the officials as they cleared the floor, with Loyola leading 40-37 at the time.

The food was ordered by a man on the video board, according to Abby Schnable of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, who added that one of the referees said the situation was a first for him.
