Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Sunday that although presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump is "what the county needs," the former reality TV star needs to stop offending Latinos.

"I am concerned about the Hispanic vote," McConnell said on "Meet the Press." "The country is changing; it would be a big mistake to write off the Latino vote," he said. Voters of Latin American descent are "an important part of the country," he continued.

"I am concerned" about Trump's anti-Latino rhetoric and "I hope he will change his direction on that," McConnell said.

Early in his campaign Trump enraged Latinos by calling many Mexican immigrants rapists. More recently, he attacked the federal judge overseeing a fraud case against the real estate tycoon. U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel should recuse himself from the case because his Mexican heritage makes him biased against Trump, the self-proclaimed billionaire claimed.
