The former Prince George’s County man accused of plotting to blow up a military recruiting station is scheduled to appear in federal court in Baltimore on Monday afternoon.
A detention hearing for Antonio Martinez, who says he graduated from Laurel High School in 2005, is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday in U.S. District Court.
Martinez, 21, who calls himself Muhammad Hussain after recently converting to Islam, was caught in a federal sting in which he allegedly tried to detonate a car bomb in Catonsville that turned out to be a fake.
Prosecutors say Martinez, a U.S. citizen, is a flight risk. He was born outside the United States, although authorities have not said where. Martinez’s mother has said his father is Nicaraguan.
