Trading combat data for AI innovation

European allies are already adapting to this shift. In late September 2026, the United Kingdom secured a first-of-its-kind arrangement for its defense sector. Up to 12 British defense companies were granted access to Avengers Labs, Ukraine’s secure platform for training AI models for uncrewed systems. This partnership opens up a repository containing more than 5 million annotated battlefield images, featuring everything from tanks and air defenses to infantry and reconnaissance drones.
