‘Throw these bums out’: Mark Levin says Barr hearing proves Democrats ‘support the violent rioters’

Conservative radio host Mark Levin ripped Democrats for their “hatred” of law enforcement and “obnoxious” behavior during Attorney General William Barr’s hearing Tuesday.

“The House Judiciary Democrats have revealed themselves as obnoxious, dishonest, moronic, and ignorant,” Levin said Tuesday. “These demagogues support the violent rioters, hate law enforcement, will not allow the AG to reply to any of their idiotic and phony questions.”

Democrats called Barr to testify before the committee regarding a bevy of issues, including the deployment of federal forces to Portland, Oregon, during rioting there, the Justice Department’s handling of the Roger Stone case, and the nationwide calls for police reform in America.

Since Barr was confirmed, critics of President Trump have accused Barr of acting more like the president’s personal attorney than that of the top law enforcement official in the nation.

“You really can’t hide behind legal fictions this time, Mr. Barr. It’s all out in the open,” said Rep. Jerry Nadler, the committee’s chairman. “The president wants footage for his campaign ads, and you appear to be serving it up to him as ordered. In most of these cities, the protests had begun to wind down before you marched in and confronted the protesters. … In this moment, real leadership would entail de-escalation … instead, you use pepper spray and truncheons on American citizens. … Shame on you, Mr. Barr.”

Republicans spent the hearing defending Barr’s conduct as attorney general and tearing into Democrats for calling him to testify but repeatedly interrupting him as he attempted to answer their questions.

“I want the attorney general to be able to have enough time to respond to accusations and questions asked him and you guys not cut him off,” said Rep. Jim Jordan, the ranking Republican on the body.

Barr has positioned himself as a defender of the Constitution and grounded in the “rule of law,” a posture Democrats have said is a cover for a political agenda meant to aid the president.

The attorney general rejected those assertions.

“Federal courts are under attack. Since when is it OK to try to burn down a federal court?” Barr asked members during the hearing. “If someone went down the street to the Prettyman Court here, that beautiful courthouse we have right at the bottom of the hill, and started breaking windows and firing industrial-grade fireworks in to start a fire, throw kerosene balloons in, and start fires in the court, is that OK? Is that OK now? No, the U.S. Marshals have a duty to stop that and defend the courthouse, and that’s what we are doing in Portland. We are at the courthouse defending the courthouse. We’re not out looking for trouble.”

Levin, who has spent Trump’s first term railing against Democrats’ various investigations into Trump and his associates, suggested the party embarrassed itself this week.

“I hope the American people are watching this,” Levin said. “Most will be disgusted. This House sucks. Throw these bums out.”
