Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not mincing words when it comes to its response to newly-announced sanctions against Moscow and is warning America Russia has no intention to change its course.
"It is high time the American fans of sanctions, which have plunged the United States into Russophobic hysteria, got rid of their illusions and [SIC] realised that no threats or attempts to exert pressure will compel Russia to change its course or sacrifice its national interests," Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on Facebook.
Another post from Russia's official Twitter account warned, "Whoever comes to us with #sanctions, from sanctions will perish. We dedicate this video to those who try to hurt us with new sanctions!" The tweet includes video from a Russian Renaissance festival set to rock music.
President Trump on Wednesday signed sanctions targeting Russia, Iran, and North Korea after the measure passed overwhelming in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
The warnings follow Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev terse rebuff of the sanctions on social media in which he said that Congress sees Trump as "an incompetent player" who must be "liquidated."
