Former President Donald Trump has reportedly told those close to him that he expects to be “reinstated” as president in August.
“Trump has been telling a number of people he’s in contact with that he expects he will get reinstated by August (no that isn’t how it works but simply sharing the information),” said New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman on Twitter.

Haberman’s post was shared along with a clip of a CNN report that alleged former national security adviser Michael Flynn had endorsed a “Myanmar-style coup” in the United States at an event in Dallas Sunday.
“I want to know why what happened in [Myanmar] can’t happen here?” a member of the audience asked Flynn.

“No reason, I mean, it should happen here. No reason. That’s right,” Flynn responded.
But lawyer Sidney Powell, who has represented Flynn and Trump in the past, denied Flynn had called for “any act of violence or any military insurrection” with his comments, which she said had been “grossly distorted” by the media. Flynn has also denied calling for a takeover of the U.S. government.
“Let me be VERY CLEAR – There is NO reason whatsoever for any coup in America, and I do not and have not at any time called for any action of that sort,” read a Monday message posted to a Parler account controlled by Flynn.
Haberman speculated in subsequent tweets that the timing of the talk of Trump being reinstated could coincide with an indictment in New York.
“It isn’t happening in a vacuum. It is happening as he faced the possibility of an indictment from the Manhattan DA,” Haberman said. “But he is not putting out statements about the ‘audits’ in states just for the sake of it. He’s been laser focused on them, according to several people who’ve spoken with him.”

Trump has not offered any public comment on the possibility of returning to the White House after a prolonged court battle, instead focusing most of his attention in recent months on endorsing candidates loyal to his “America First” agenda ahead of the 2022 midterm elections.
