Los Solos showcases dance, music

The Los Solos Series is an innovative monthly series of solo performances by groundbreaking female artists including dancers, musicians, writers, filmmakers, conceptual artists, theatrical performers, performance artists and curators. On Friday, Los Solos will feature musician Susan Alcorn and New York-based dancer Clyde Forth.

Forth’s work has crossed the boundaries of drawing, sculpture, video, dance and poetry for the last 18 years. Her dance company, Clyde Forth Visual Theatre, is an ensemble dedicated to highly interdisciplinary dance theater and compositional improvisation based out of Saugerties, N.Y.

Alcorn is a Baltimore-based composer and musician who has received international recognition as an innovator of the pedal steel guitar, an instrument whose sound is commonly associated with country and western music. Her original music reveals the influence of free jazz, avant-garde classical music, Indian ragas, Indigenous traditions, and other music of the world.

The series will be held at the Carriage House, located at 2225 Hargrove St. in Baltimore. Show starts at 8:30 p.m. Friday and is free, but a donation of $6 is suggested. For more information, visit www.baltimoreperformance.com/lossolos.
