CAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — The White Mountain National Forest has opened a 100-mile loop trail showing the history of the national legislation that made it possible.
At the Weeks Act Legacy Trail, visitors can take an actual — or virtual — history tour of 40 sites along the trail to learn about the century-old legislation that created national forests.
The trail includes information that can be accessed through audio players, smart phones and other electronic devices.
The following themes are emphasized on the trail: Art and Literature, Conservation History, Ecology and Nature, History and Cultural Heritage, Kids and Families, Scenery and Photography, and Recreation and Water.
