He played for the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders from 1973-1986 and was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
“As I look back on what I achieved in my life, I realize that it all started growing up in a very warm, loving, and caring family life. My parents only wanted what was the best for their three sons. We were taught to appreciate the things we had and to take care of what we got. We were taught to respect the family life and our fellow man. Life was simple back then and I cherished all the great times I had growing up in that atmosphere,” Guy said during his induction ceremony.
Guy was a six-time All-Pro selection, and played in seven Pro Bowls and three Super Bowls during his 14 years in the NFL. He also was part of the 75th Anniversary NFL All-Time Team at punter, as well as the 1970s All-Decade Team, the All-Time NFL Team chosen by the Hall of Fame Committee in 2000, and the AFL-NFL 1960-1984 All-Star Team, according to the statement.
