CNN host Dana Bash said we need to “remember we are all in this together” after some criticized her for defending President Trump’s change in tone toward the coronavirus.
“As I said in the clip you posted below, this is a moment to be non-partisan, American and human – & the TONE the president set at today & yesterday’s PRESSERS were remarkably different and welcomed,” Bash said Tuesday on Twitter in response to criticism for her Trump praise. “That’s a fact. Let’s all take a breath and remember we are all in this together.”
One critic said he felt like he was “living on another planet” after Bash defended the president’s tone change.

During the CNN panel, Bash said Trump was acting “calm” and “understanding” about how dire things are for the country. She noted the behavior was different from just days ago when he was trying to downplay the crisis.
“This was remarkable from the president of the United States. This is a nonpartisan, this is an important thing to note, and to applaud from an American standpoint, from a human standpoint. He is being the kind of leader that people need, at least in tone, today and yesterday,” she said on the panel.
On Monday, Trump told reporters that American life will be upended for the next five months and that the country could be headed for a recession. “We have an invisible enemy,” he said. “This is a very bad one. This is bad in the sense that it’s so contagious.”
The message comes as over 5,000 people have been infected nationwide while 17 people have recovered.
