Maryland’s governor is offering a cash reward to help Baltimore law enforcement track down the murderer of a well-loved older woman who was stabbed in a church.
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan offered a $100,000 reward for whoever can provide information on who killed 69-year-old Evelyn Player in an East Baltimore church.

“The murder of a 69-year-old grandmother inside a church in East Baltimore has shaken city residents and community leaders to the core … This heartbreaking violence is tearing the city apart,” Hogan stated in a press announcement. ” Enough is enough. We need immediate action.”
Hogan, a Republican, also ordered state police and other law enforcement agencies to offer assistance to Baltimore police to find the assailant.
Player showed up at Southern Baptist Church at approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday and was found stabbed to death under an hour later, KAIT8 reported. The older woman was described as a “beautiful person” and a dedicated church member.
The governor decried the “string of senseless violence” plaguing the city, including “a barber shop killing and the assault of a priest in broad daylight in Little Italy just last week.”
“People are hurting, they’re scared, and they’re searching for answers,” he continued. “They want to know why this bloodshed keeps happening and what it’s going to take for something to change.”
