Imagine being a 26-year-old parent of two and having a judge grant your dad permanent control of your life. Well, what sounds totally surreal to us is just another day in the life of recovering train wreck Britney Spears.
Tuesday, the pop star’s father, Jamie Spears, was named permanent conservator of her affairs and permanent co-conservator of her estate (a lawyer shares the duty) by an L.A. court. And evidently, it was with her approval.
“I’ve met several times with [Britney] and she requested that I not object to the permanent conservatorship,” her court-appointed lawyer declared during the proceedings.
But Brit’s not necessarily condemned to being a Daddy’s girl until the end of her days. According to TMZ, the status might make it easier for the singer to regain custody of her two sons.
“This is by no means something that’s going to last forever,” a source close to the “Womanizer” singer tells People. “The conservatorship being made permanent in name is primarily to ensure increased time with her children, and provide support for her music and work goals.”
OK, but to us it still sounds like legalese for “grounded for life.”
‘One Tree Hill’ love
You’d think Sophia Bush would have learned her lesson. But after her marriage to co-star Chad Michael Murray went kaput in five months, the actress has embarked on another “One Tree Hill” on-set romance. Though reps for both are mum, sources confirm to E! Online that Sophia and James Lafferty are a couple.
“They’re definitely together,” a series insider told the Web site.
The irony is, it was Chad who let the cat out of the bag, when a local TV station asked him about working with Sophia after their 2005 split. “I think [Sophia and I] are both professional and mature enough to get through it,” CMM opined. “And now it’s just easy. We’re just friends. And she’s got James, and James and I are friends. It’s just a little tight group in Wilmington.”
Which, evidently, makes it hard to meet men you don’t work with.
Jennifer’s strength
In a few short days, Jennifer Hudson’s life went from charmed — a whirlwind career, an Oscar, a recent engagement — to tragic, with her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew found murdered. Monday, she had the heart-wrenching task of helping to identify young Julian’s body.
But the singer-actress is handling the crisis with strength, a pal confides to OK! She’s working hard to keep herself together for the sake of loved ones — including the boy’s mother, her sister Julia.
“Jennifer only has her sister left — they need to move on together,” a friend tells the magazine. “But she is a very strong lady. With her family, friends and fans standing behind her, she will get through this.”
Much love and support to Jennifer and her family.
