Heat wave foes, rejoice. Temperatures this week are only expected to reach the 80s in the D.C. area. But you might want to have an umbrella handy, because forecasters are predicting a chance of showers and thunderstorms every day this week.
The National Weather Service predicts an 80-percent chance of precipitation today, with rain and a possible thunderstorm most likely occurring before 2 p.m. Today’s high temperature at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is expected to reach about 87 degrees.
Forecasters say there’s a 30-percent chance of precipitation Tuesday through Saturday, with showers and thunderstorms possible each day. The high at the airport is predicted to be about 84 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 82 degrees on Friday and 87 on Saturday.
Sunday is expected to be about 88 degrees with a 40-percent chance of precipitation, according to the Weather Service.
The normal high temperature this week is 89 degrees.
