Actor James Woods has been locked out of his Twitter account due to his refusal to delete an Internet meme about a false campaign encouraging men stay at home during the midterm elections.
Woods, who has become a leading conservative voice out of Hollywood, violated Twitter’s rules, the Associated Press reported Sunday. Twitter sent him an email that said his July tweet “has the potential to be misleading in a way that could impact an election” and he must delete the tweet to regain access to his account.

Woods told the AP that he won’t delete the tweet, in which he conceded that the meme was likely a untrue.
Woods’ account, with its more than 1.7 million followers, remains active, but the offending tweet appeared to have been taken down.
Woods has previously stated that he has been castigated for espousing and sharing conservative views. Woods said his “liberal” agent dropped him on July 4.
