President Trump’s campaign referred to Joe Biden as a “dead guy” in a tweet slamming the former vice president as a candidate.
“Joe Biden is the same rotting corpse of a candidate he was three weeks ago,” the campaign said Friday. “It’s just that Democrats have decided that they would be better off with the dead guy than with Crazy Bernie.”

The campaign was slammed on Twitter for making the remark during the coronavirus pandemic.
In the middle of a pandemic … with people dying … this is what you tweet?
Disgusting. https://t.co/X3ukdWiUjz

yeah. Maybe in the midst off a public health crisis calling your opponent a rotting corpse and “dead” is not the greatest look. https://t.co/w5rUtP2Td7

Despicable from Team Trump. And probably not the best strategy given that their man resembles nothing so much as the methane-bloated rotting carcass of a cow you might see lying alongside a country road on a hot day. https://t.co/nzCyqtgSIf

Though many hoped against hope, I guess we all kind of knew that it would end this way with Trump: in utter moral ruin. https://t.co/yRYyXfYkuC

After backlash for the remark, the campaign said on Twitter that it was quoting from a Washington Times column.
Pundits have questioned the health of the former vice president since the beginning of his campaign last spring. In December, Biden’s doctor released a report showing he was currently being treated for four different ailments.
The doctor said the former vice president is still “fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency.”
