Baltimore City police say a 79-year-old man is responsible for the death of his 81-year-old wife.
Virginia Jones, 81, contacted Baltimore police back on May 16 to say her husband, William Jones, 79, had assaulted her during an argument at their home in the 3600 block of Rosedale Road.
William Jones, who has been diagnosed with dementia, struck and shook her, Virginia Jones told police.
Each was hospitalized, and Virginia Jones died on June 3 due to a brain bleed, according to city police spokesman Sterling Clifford. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.
Police were preparing to charge William Jones with the killing when he died of natural causes, Clifford said.
The death was the city?s 228th homicide this year compared with 203 last year.
