Trump costs NYC $1 million a day

Donald Trump is costing his hometown of New York City a lot of money now that he is president-elect.

Protecting Trump and his family comes with a daily tab of $1 million per day, according to a CNN report Monday citing three city officials. Not only is the Secret Service charged with protecting the Trump family, but local law enforcement also is charged with assisting them.

Since winning the Nov. 8 election, Trump has spent much of his time in Trump Tower in Manhattan, where he is interviewing candidates for his incoming administration.

Part of the expense is the cost of providing security to Trump’s wife, children and grandkids, all of whom are now are able to receive the protective supervision of the Secret Service.

The large bill may grow after Trump is sworn in Jan. 20. Though Trump plans to move into the White House after the inauguration, it was reported this weekend that Trump’s wife, Melania, and his 10-year-old son, Barron, may stay in the Big Apple, at least until Barron can complete the school year.
