Almost just as soon as it had begun, it was over: Ford Nation, the reality TV show starring Toronto Mayor Rob Ford and his brother, Toronto City Councillor Doug Ford.
After only one episode, the Sun News Network — a Canadian news-talk channel — canceled the Ford brothers show, according to CNN. But it wasn’t low ratings that led the network to make that decision, Sun News Vice President Kory Teneycke said.
“It beat our record of 100,000 viewers,” he told CNN, adding that it was the required time needed to produce the show that made the network pull the plug.
Ford has had one scandal after another. The Mayor admitted to smoking crack cocaine, was recently videotaped threatening to kill someone and used lewd language about his sex life in a press conference. Naturally, his antics have made him the laughingstock of almost all late-night TV show hosts. Spirit Airlines even started offering a Ford-themed flight discount to Toronto.
It was this viral factor that caused Sun News to give the brothers a show in the first place.
If you haven’t already had enough of the scandal-plagued Mayor, you can watch the first — and only — episode of the show below, which aired on Monday.
At the time of this article, Sun News Network had not returned request for comment.
