For months, protesters have been blocking the construction of an oil pipeline in North Dakota to protect water, land, and religious and spiritual sites deemed sacred to the Native American tribes in the region, namely the Standing Rock Sioux.
The tension between the protesters and state and local law enforcement have reached a boiling point where protesters have been beaten, shot with rubber bullets, pepper-sprayed, and arrested. And from the look of it, the two sides aren’t budging.

What’s worse for the protesters is that they’re not getting much help from the candidate they endorsed for President, Hillary Clinton.
In a statement released last week, Clinton’s campaign director of coalitions, Xochitl Hinojosa, said:
That’s a very wishy-washy statement. Clinton claims she wants to be “the voice for the voiceless“ and stand “up for people’s rights,” yet she doesn’t even publicly address the concerns that millions of her supporters, particularly millennials, care about with respect to climate change and using clean, renewable energy.
And there’s a reason why Clinton just doesn’t care about the Dakota Access pipeline. She’s the biggest beneficiary of big oil and gas.
According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Hillary Clinton has received more campaign contributions than any other presidential candidate from oil & gas. Clinton has received nearly $1 million to her campaign and over $2.6 million from fossil fuel lobbyists and bundlers.
Why would Hillary come out now and slam big oil & gas for building a pipeline? It’s because she wants money and votes, and the Standing Rock Sioux don’t have enough of either to leverage over Hillary.
Progressives have been duped. Hillary Clinton is a crony capitalist masked as a “progressive.”
