LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles police say a vandalism suspect has been shot to death by officers in the Van Nuys area.
Sgt. Al Gonzalez says police responded early Friday to reports of vandalism and of a disturbance on Hayvenhurst Avenue.
Officers encountered the suspect and tried to take the suspect into custody.
Gonzalez says they were unable to detain him and an officer-involved shooting occurred.
The suspect was described as a man in his early 20s.
City News Service says according to reports from the scene, one or more suspects may have been vandalizing vehicles with rocks.
