Man arrested for hitting vehicle with hatchet

Maryland State Police have arrested a man they say struck a vehicle with a hatchet in what they called a road rage incident. Around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, troopers received several calls that someone had gotten out of his car on the shoulder of the Capital Beltway in Rockville and was hitting another vehicle with a hatchet. The man drove off but was followed by witnesses, who passed the information to police. Troopers said they found a hatchet under the seat of his car. Shaun Tomlinson, 26, of Brookhaven, Pa. was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

Police: Rape suspect confesses

to two more sexual assaults

The suspect accused of raping a Baltimore woman after asking to shovel her snow has confessed to two other rapes, according to police. Donald Vaughan, 19, is accused of forcing his way into a home, raping a woman and slashing her throat after offering to shovel snow outside her home. Police in the town of Kilmarnock in eastern Virginia said they were keeping surveillance on Vaughan after two women were raped in November and December.



Wendy’s workers robbed at gunpoint

Employees of a Wendy’s restaurant were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night, and Fairfax County police are looking for the robbers. Around 8 p.m., two armed men in ski masks entered the restaurant at 7391 Lee Highway. One man jumped on the counter while the other gathered the employees together and took their belongings.

Police: Toddler’s death probed as homicide

Baltimore police say they are investigating the death of a 20-month-old girl as a homicide. Police were called to a home for a report of an infant who was not breathing. When medics arrived, the father was attempting to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the child, identified as Janaya Wallace, and she was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Hospital a short time later. Moses says detectives noticed scrapes on her neck and bruising on her forehead and cheek. An autopsy determined she was beaten to death.
