Obama: No way Michelle will run for president

President Obama on Thursday ruled out any future run for president by first lady Michelle Obama, saying unequivocally there is zero chance she would consider it.

“Let me tell you, there are three things that are certain in life: death, taxes, and Michelle is not running for president. That I can tell you,” he said Thursday during a town hall-style forum in Baton Rouge, La.

The president was responding to a question from an audience member asking Obama to find a way to talk the first lady into running at some time in the future.

Obama said he is very proud of the work his wife has done as first lady, including her efforts to reduce childhood obesity and, along with Dr. Jill Biden, her support for military families, especially those “gold star” families who have suffered when a service member has died overseas.

“I could not be prouder of her,” he said. “I’m certain that she’s going to be a really active [former] first lady,” he said, noting that she is still relatively young and looks it, “unlike me.”
