So who you gonna trust, Joe Biden or Robert Gates?
Tough one, right? Gates wrote in his memoir that Biden had managed to be wrong on just about every major foreign policy matter throughout his career. Now, Biden returns fire, as Justin Sink of The Hill reports, saying that,
Bob Gates has been wrong about everything! … everything in the last forty years, there’s nothing that I can think of, major fundamental decisions relative to foreign policy, that I can think he’s been right about … I can hardly wait—either in a Presidential campaign or when I’m out of here—to debate Bob Gates.
Biden added, for historical perspective, that he believes “that Washington and Jefferson were all right: War is too important to be left to generals.”
Actually, that is Georges Clemenceau’s line. But you can’t be right about everything
