A 55-year-old driver for MetroAccess has been fired after being charged with sexually assaulting a customer.
Jose Del Castillo was arrested in his Gaithersburg home and taken to Prince George’s County, where he will be prosecuted. Castillo worked for Challenger Transportation — a subcontractor for MV Transportation, which provides the MetroAccess service. MetroAccess serves the transit agency’s disabled customers.
Metro officials said Castillo was hired May 5, 2009, and was fired Thursday, after his arrest. The alleged incident took place on Jan. 28, and Castillo has been suspended without pay since Jan. 30.
In a statement, Metro officials also said that another MetroAccess driver was accused of sexual assault in Northeast on Jan. 3. The U.S. Attorney’s Office declined to prosecute the case, but the 31-year-old driver was fired Feb. 4 anyway.
Last week, a Metrobus driver was accused of soliciting a prostitute while driving his bus. The prostitute turned out to be an undercover officer, and he was promptly arrested.
