Grumpy Cat, the feline who rose to internet fame for her constant look of anger, died on Tuesday, according to her owner.
In posts on her social media accounts with millions of followers, Grumpy Cat’s owners said despite receiving top care, she died due to complications from a urinary tract infection “that unfortunately became too tough for her to overcome.”
“Besides being our baby and cherished member of the family, Grumpy Cat has helped millions of people smile all around the world — even when times were tough,” the owners said. “Her spirit will continue to live on through her fans everywhere.”

Grumpy Cat went viral after one owner posted a picture of her on Reddit over six years ago. Memes about her upset look were made, with some Photoshopping to make her look happier.
After going viral, Grumpy Cat had a career that included books and a movie. Pictures of her upset face were sold on calendars, mugs, t-shirts, and everything in between.
