MSNBC host Joy Reid cheered on Fox News contributor Donna Brazile for telling Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel to “go to hell” after she mentioned the possibility of a brokered Democratic convention.
“It’s leading towards, potentially, a brokered convention, which will be rigged against Bernie if those super delegates have their way on that second vote,” McDaniel said last week during an appearance on Fox News.
Brazile hit back later in the show, saying, “Ronna, go to hell! This is not about — no, go to hell. I’m tired of it, Ed. We are not — we are not trying to prevent anyone from becoming the nominee.”
The remarks from Brazile, the former head of the Democratic National Committee, drew sharp criticism from Republicans, who accused her of unprofessional behavior.
“I’d be having a bad day too if my party was still hopelessly divided,” McDaniel, who also called the comment “out of line,” tweeted. “Talk of a brokered convention and the DNC trying to stop Bernie obviously hit a little close to home.”
“If you’re going to get all worked up on Bernie’s momentum or Biden’s endorsements, I am going to explain why it matters,” Brazile shot back. “But, if you decide to play Putin’s game, I am going to cuss you out. Now go vote folks.”
On her show over the weekend, Reid applauded Brazile’s strong language and declared her the winner of the war of words.
“For defending your party in the most blunt terms, on Earth Two, Donna Brazile, you win the week,” Reid said.
“Earth Two” is a pejorative Reid often uses on her program to describe Fox News.
