Where is Mark Plotkin?

Mark Plotkin’s sudden departure from WTOP in January shocked the local media. The political analyst and D.C. statehood champion was fired after blowing up at a cleaning crew, the last in a series of temper flare-ups over his decade-long tenure at the station. After leaving WTOP under a wave of media coverage, Plotkin has disappeared from the headlines. He has not, however, disappeared from the media, but if you’re not living in Canada, you might have missed him.

“I was on Canadian Television this morning,” Plotkin tells Yeas & Nays. Still no full-time gig, but he’s also contributing to Fox5 and the BBC. “That’s plenty to do,” he says. “I’m busy. It’s a political year.”

Plotkin says of course he misses WTOP — ”I was there 10 years, and it was a good time” — but it doesn’t sound like he’s pining for the old days. “What I’m praying for is more than one ballot at the Republican convention,” he says. “It would be terrific.”
