Donald Trump isn’t even president yet, but the battle over the Affordable Care Act is already underway. People have very strong feelings about the law, but they don’t exactly know what it is or that it’s nicknamed “Obamacare.”
Jimmy Kimmel had a ‘man on the street’ segment Tuesday night where he asked people in Los Angeles if they preferred Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act and why.
For those who don’t know, deciding if you like Obamacare or the Affordable Care Act is like deciding if you like Beyoncé or Sasha Fierce. It’s the same exact thing.
“I guess [I support] the Affordable Care Act,” said one man. “I’m not really sure [why I support it to Obamacare], my girlfriend supports Trump, so I go with whatever she says.”
It wasn’t just Republicans who didn’t know that Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act were the same exact law. Plenty of Democrats were equally clueless.
“[The difference between Obamacare and the Affordable Care Act is] one is you pay and the other one is Obama pays for you and it makes a big difference,” said one Obamacare supporter.
