Obama, Republicans Set for Climate Showdown

Congressional Republicans plan to fight back this week against new regulations from the Obama administration’s Environmental Protection Agency. The House of Representatives will take up measures against the rules as President Obama attends a global climate-change summit in Paris.

The Wall Street Journal reported this weekend:

Republicans are targeting new Obama administration rules aimed at cutting carbon emissions from power plants, and are working to block federal dollars from supporting global climate efforts. The House plans to vote next week—the first week of the two-week summit—on a pair of measures that would repeal Environmental Protection Agency rules to cut carbon emissions from power plants. The Senate voted to nullify the rules in mid-November in largely symbolic resolutions.

According to majority leader Kevin McCarthy’s calendar, the House of Representatives will vote on two resolutions Tuesday that will provide for “congressional disapproval” of the new regulations.
