D.C. United (0-0-0) at Wizards (0-0-0)

So, of course D.C. United also added defender Barry Rice to the roster yesterday, along with Carey Talley, to give themselves a full allotment of players — 24 on the main roster, with two exemptions (Bill Hamid, Andy Najar) — headed into tonight’s opener.

Relevant injuries: Devon McTavish is questionable with a hamstring strain, and Clyde Simms is probable after knee surgery.

Key matchup: Curt Onalfo vs. Peter Vermes. This time it’s personal, a case of coach/then-GM who did the firing vs. coach that got fired. Not a bad storyline to open the season. Too bad it’s not on TV.

Opposing players to watch: Chance Myers, the number one overall draft pick in 2008, and Teal Bunbury, this year’s fourth overall pick, should man the wings for Kansas City. Jimmy Conrad is the face of the franchise in the back, while Josh Wolff and Kei Kamara are the goal-scorers.
