Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said she has not yet decided whether House Democrats will impeach President Trump and will not do so until the House Judiciary Committee holds its hearings.
“No, we haven’t made it,” the California Democrat told CNN on Tuesday about the impeachment decision. The speaker is still mulling her next steps and, according to sources, will not commit to any timeline on impeachment.
Pelosi had previously refused to talk about impeachment on Monday while she was overseas. House Democrats will begin another round of impeachment hearings on Wednesday when the House Judiciary Committee will hear testimony.
The White House has said they will not cooperate with House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler’s invitation to be part of the Judiciary Committee impeachment hearings. “We cannot fairly be expected to participate in a hearing while the witnesses are yet to be named,” White House counsel Pat Cipollone said, blasting the process for not providing “the president with any semblance of a fair process.”
