Redskins’ Morgan receives death threats

Wide receiver unfazed by Twitter messages

Redskins receiver Joshua Morgan said he received death threats on Twitter after his costly 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty in a 31-28 loss to St. Louis. Morgan’s penalty forced the Redskins into a 62-yard field goal attempt that Billy Cundiff missed wide right.

“I heard everything, especially when they get you on Twitter and are sending you death threats and wishing you bad things and your first born,” Morgan said. “Nothing really scares me. I’m from D.C.”

Indeed, a search of his timeline produced two tweets that threatened him, with one telling him, “I’ll kill you in your [bleeping] sleep …” Another person tweeted him in part, “If I ever see you .. I will murder you … I WILL KILL YOU”.

Coach Mike Shanahan said they’ll have team security look into the situation to determine if there’s a legitimate threat.

Morgan said he’s more concerned with bouncing back.

“You respond with your actions,” he said. “That’s what I’m going to do.”

Notes

» Corner Josh Wilson (concussion), receiver Pierre Garcon (foot) and safety Brandon Meriweather (knee) all were limited in practice. Wilson has been cleared to play after sitting out the final quarter in Sunday’s loss to St. Louis.

» Shanahan said both Rob Jackson and Chris Wilson will play outside linebacker against Cincinnati on Sunday. They’ll replace injured starter Brian Orakpo for the rest of the season. Both are considered good pass rushers.
