EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Owners of the FireKeepers Casino Hotel say they are buying a nationally branded hotel right next to the casino to diversify its business.
Mlive.com reports (http://bit.ly/ZpkKUm ) Friday that the Nottawaseppi (NOT’-uh-wuh-seh-pee) Huron Band of Potawatomi (pot-uh-WAH’-tuh-mee) Indians is paying $12 million for the Quality Inn & Suites west of the casino in Calhoun County’s Emmett Township. The purchase includes a vacant five-acre parcel.

The casino near Battle Creek opened in 2009. The tribe opened its 242-room, eight-story hotel on Dec. 12.
