The body of a man stowed away on a flight from Kenya to the United Kingdom fell from the sky and landed in a London residential garden.
Police in London said Monday that the body found in the garden is believed to be a man who attempted to hitch a ride in the landing gear compartment of a Kenya Airways flight. Further investigation found food and water in the compartment of the suspected plane.
The cause of the man’s death has not yet been determined, although stowing away in the undercarriage of jets results in death with three-quarters of stowaways. Once jets reach cruising altitude, the level of oxygen becomes much less and it becomes incredibly cold in the area where the man is believed to have been hiding.
The airline called the death “unfortunate” and said it has been cooperating with authorities in the U.K. and Kenya. The identity of the man has not yet been released.
