Game 2 of a 3-game series here at Nationals Park.
Big news today is the return of suspended center fielder Nyjer Morgan to the Nationals lineup. Morgan was suspended for 8 games by MLB for a string of incidents last month.
Ryan Zimmerman is out of the lineup again with a rib strain. His injury status seems to be day-to-day and at this point, I doubt the Nats would want him to go unless he felt totally fine.
With Zim out, the lineup looks like an old-school National League hit and run lineup. The only true bopper in the bunch is Adam Dunn — the rest of the lineup combined only beats him in the homer dept. 38-37. The power in this lineup is concentrated in the 2-5 spots – see below.
Cuban defector Yunesky Maya (0-2, 6.32 ERA) makes his fourth start for the Nats and his second at Nationals Park. He faces off against the Braves’ 14-year MLB veteran Derek Lowe (14-12, 4.18).
