2 seriously injured in LI motorcycle accident

EAST ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — Police on Long Island say a motorcyclist and his passenger were seriously injured after they crashed into the back of a car.

Suffolk County police say the 2012 Yamaha slammed into a Mitsubishi Galant traveling east on Sunrise Highway in East Islip.

It happened Sunday evening near Exit 46.

The motorcyclist, 21-year-old Christopher Gonzalez of Medford, suffered serious head injuries. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

His passenger, 21-year-old Samantha Negron of Patchogue, also suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital.

The driver of the car and her 13-year-old grandson were not injured.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.

The car and motorbike were impounded for safety checks.
