Among some members of Congress, concern is high that terrorists might use Ebola as a biological weapon against the United States.
“I’m very concerned. We had people who, I’ll repeat it, the creed of Hamas: We value death more than you value life. What? That’s their creed,” Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., said when asked about the hypothetical possibility of Hamas members purposely infecting themselves with Ebola and then traveling into the United States through the U.S.-Mexico border.
Wilson said action needs to be taken by instituting a travel ban and “sealing the border, thoroughly,” according to BuzzFeed.
“If you have tens of thousands of children coming across the border who could have potential health issues the thought of other people coming across to me just should be stopped and avoided,” Wilson said.
Wilson also called for a travel ban related to countries currently dealing with an outbreak of the virus.
Earlier this week, Wisconsin Republican Sen. Ron Johnson expressed his concern that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria would also send its militants across the boarder carrying the disease.
