Biden campaign says they gave Louis C.K. his donation back

The Biden campaign acknowledged that they refunded a maximum donation from comedian Louis C.K. because of his sexual misconduct.

The comedian, whose real name is Louis Szekely, donated $2,800 to former Vice President Joe Biden on March 4, according to Federal Election Commission records. The donation was made a day after Biden took a decisive advantage in the primary on Super Tuesday.

A Biden campaign representative told Time that the contribution has since been refunded, which will be reflected in his next report filed in May.

In 2017, five women came forward and accused Louis C.K. of sexual misconduct in the 1990s and in the 2000s. Some women claimed that the comedian exposed himself to them and proceeded to sexually please himself in front of them. Shortly thereafter, the comedian admitted that the allegations were true.

“These stories are true,” he said at the time. “At the time, I said to myself that what I did was O.K. because I never showed a woman my dick without asking first, which is also true. But what I learned later in life, too late, is that when you have power over another person, asking them to look at your dick isn’t a question. It’s a predicament for them. The power I had over these women is that they admired me. And I wielded that power irresponsibly.”

While at first he retreated from public life following his admission, Louis C.K. has since returned to the stage.

Biden has also faced allegations of making women feel uncomfortable and sexual misconduct, but he has denied the latter.
